Celebrating Your Pet's Birthday - Tips and a Pet-Friendly Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup whole wheat flour (or oat flour for a gluten-free option)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/4 cup peanut butter (ensure it’s xylitol-free)
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup shredded carrots
1 egg

For the icing:

1/2 cup plain Greek yoghurt
1/4 cup peanut butter

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 175°C. Grease a small cake pan or line it with parchment paper.

2. In a bowl, combine the flour and baking powder.

3. In another bowl, mix together the applesauce, peanut butter, oil and egg. Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.

4. Fold in the shredded carrots and mix until well combined.

5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.

7. Let the cake cool completely before frosting.

8. For the icing, mix the Greek yoghurt and peanut butter until smooth. Spread over the cooled cake.

9. Decorate with your dog’s favourite treats and serve a slice to your birthday pup!

2. In a bowl, mash the tuna with a fork.

3. Add the mashed sweet potato, egg, and flour and mix until combined.

4. Spoon the mixture into the prepared pan, pressing it down gently.

5. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until set.

6. Let it cool completely before serving it to your cat.
